There was a popular song in the hit musical "The Sound of Music", which goes, "How do you solve a problem like Maria".
Now the question is "How do you deal with a renegade President like Trump?".
Granted, he is not the only bad example of the U.S. leaders.
Aaron Burr, Vice President under President Thomas Jefferson was so enraged when dropped from the office in Jefferson's second term, that he attempted several traitorous acts.
Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States, was brutal in his treatment of native Americans and Black slaves.
Ulysses Grant's Presidency was marred by several corruption charges.
Warren Harding was implicated in the Teapot Dome scandal over the control of oil reserves on federal lands in Wyoming.
Jimmy Carter, a well meaning but weak leader, was unable to deal with outrageous acts of a foreign nation.
Spiro Agnew, Nixon's Vice President, took cash bribes in his office.
Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton wrote forgettable chapters in American history.
There are many other examples.
However, ever since he entered politics, Trump has been an enigma.
First, nobody took him seriously. Now, equally bad, everybody takes him seriously.
There is one aim of every politician- to keep his name in front of the public everyday.
Good or bad, nobody dominates the news like Trump.
In the last four years, can you think of a single day Trump was not on front-line news?
I cannot.
This is what feeds him. The news and social media is more than willing to oblige him.
All the liberal media have already written his obituary. According to their prediction, he will be defeated handily by Joe Biden in the 2020 General elections.
It is possible.
But let us examine some dangerous under currents.
In the 2020 Republican Primary, Trump amassed the most primary votes for any incumbent President running for reelection. More than Obama, Clinton, the two Bushes and Ronald Reagan.
How is it possible?
In two of the key states, Ohio and Florida, he got more primary votes than Biden, while running unopposed.
Where is this stealth support coming from?
Why are the so called polls not getting this?
Is there really a silent majority as Trump claims?
Luckily, I do not think Trump can survive this time.
The Providence has finally provided the country a weapon to defeat him.
It is Covid-19.
Trump dodged a lot of bullets. But this one is leaving him no room to bob, weave and maneuver.
His ignorance exposed, incompetence revealed and imbecility in full display he is running for cover.
Let us not give him the cover this time.
Well said, Anna. We must all ensure that above all, we cast our vote this November and make our voices heard.
Very well written, thoughtful analysis, Anna! Let us hope that Trump finally gets removed from office this November. I am seeing some encouraging signs in my own neighborhood, where people who were avid Trump supporters 3 yrs ago are now turning against him. I hope he doesn't pull another rabbit out of a hat and somehow get re-elected.
